Dear colleagues,
following last year’s meeting in The Hague, we are delighted to invite you to the 22nd Ghent Group Meeting, which will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, from 17 to 19 September 2026.
This year’s meeting will focus on the balance between structure and discretion in forensic psychiatry at the macro-, meso-, and micro-levels. In keeping with the spirit of the Ghent Group, the program will place particular emphasis on mutual discussion, the exchange of experience, and reflection on different national approaches, alongside an introduction to the Czech forensic psychiatric context.
We have secured a hotel near Prague’s historic center that will provide a calm setting for professional discussions. We also plan to include a visit to Bohnice Hospital in Prague and have invited several key experts to introduce the organization of mental health care within both the healthcare and prison systems.
Based on our experience from previous years, we have placed less emphasis on service visits and greater emphasis on discussion and informal exchange, which remain at the heart of Ghent Group meetings.
We very much look forward to welcoming you to Prague, to presenting aspects of our system of care for forensic patients and the steps we are taking to further develop it, and to meeting you all in person.

The meeting is organized under the auspices of the Section of Forensic Psychiatry and the Section of Medical Sexology of the Psychiatric Society of the Czech Medical Association J. E. Purkyně, as well as Bohnice Psychiatric Hospital.

The registration fee is all-inclusive and covers all costs, including accommodation, refreshments, local taxes, and other services.
Registration fee without accomodation is 511 €.
❗ Cancellation and Refund Policy
Please be aware that our conference operates on a non-profit basis and relies on guaranteed minimum numbers for the hotel block booking. Due to September being peak season in Prague, our partner hotel enforces very strict group cancellation terms.
By completing your registration and submitting payment, you agree to the following terms:
- Changes to Registration (e.g., changing from a full package to conference-only): This is only possible if requested before August 17, 2026. After this date, the hotel enforces a 100% cancellation fee on reserved rooms, and we can no longer refund the accommodation portion of your fee.
- Full Cancellations:
- Cancellations received before August 17, 2026, will be refunded in full (minus potential bank transfer fees).
- Cancellations received on or after August 17, 2026, are non-refundable (100% cancellation fee applies).
- Name Replacements: You may transfer your registration (including the hotel room) to a colleague at any time prior to the conference at no extra cost. Please contact us immediately if a name change is required.
